Travel Through Time: How is it Possible?

Have you ever wished you could travel through time? Discovering the past and visiting the future are common dreams of ours. Surprisingly, science believes that it is possible to journey through time, although more research is needed to make it a reality.

One theory of scientists suggests that in order to time travel, we would need to warp space-time around us. Warping space-time would be achieved by having a great deal of mass or energy [1]. This warping could create a ‘tunnel’ which could transport us back or forward in time, depending on the direction of the tunnel. Another way we can theoretically move across time is if our universe had extra dimensions other than just four [2]. This can be done by travelling on a trajectory which loops around one of these extra dimensions [3], taking us back in time as we loop around it and start over at an earlier point.

Though these theories are debated within science communities today, no one has been able to prove them yet because theoretical travel through time has yet to be tested and experimented with. If this were possible however, it could greatly benefit society in terms of researching and understanding history better or even creating new energy sources for the future generations.
